
Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has launched an austerity program to cut down on spending on personal services and others in order to save four billion dollars in the coming months.
The Board of Directors received the Annual Program of Austerity in the Expenditure and Use of Resources for Fiscal Year 2020, which involves an adjustment for this amount in personal operating services, with respect to what is authorized in the Federation’s Expenditure Budget.
Pemex had already reduced by almost two billion dollars the budget of the subsidiary of the oil company, and will now take other measures such as reducing travel for its personnel and travel expenses.
Likewise, according to the new measures, the companions in commissions will be limited to the minimum necessary and there will be restrictions on staying overnight. Travel abroad will be reduced to a minimum and must be authorized by the CEO of Pemex.
High-level trusted personnel must stay in company visiting houses when commissioned. The company may only make expenditures for contracting advisory or consulting services, the services of which are justified as essential.
In accordance with the new indications published by Pemex, the company will contract the provision of surrogate services and suspend the benefit of reimbursements of medical expenses for senior officials of Pemex and its subsidiary bodies.
Regarding the purchase of airline tickets, first class and business class are prohibited for any oil worker, and tickets may not be authorized on Friday after 15:00 local time, or on weekend.
The program for the relocation and optimization of spaces at the central and foreign offices, extension of the useful life of existing furniture will continue. Vehicle leasing for use by senior officials and scholarships abroad are also suspended.
