It implies a complete experience, your senses \u2013 sight, smell and touch \u2013 will be awakened . . .\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guti\u00e9rrez added that visitors to Sayula, a municipality about 120 kilometers south of Guadalajara, can visit the house where acclaimed writer Juan Rulfo was born.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sampling regional specialties such as\u00a0<em>cajeta<\/em>\u00a0(caramelized goat\u2019s milk) and\u00a0<em>ponche de granada<\/em>\u00a0(pomegranate punch) and visiting workshops where knives are handmade by skilled artisans are also popular attractions in Sayula, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Returning to the subject of unique, traditional accommodation, Guti\u00e9rrez said that the target market for historical haciendas and manors is people aged 40 years and older.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cDue to the rates we charge, it\u2019s not easy tourism, it\u2019s tourism in which the standards are quite high,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have rates of up to 10,000 pesos. For example, there are rooms at Hacienda El Carmen in Ahualulco de Mercado [a municipality 75 kilometers west of Guadalajara] where it\u2019s quite an experience . . . [having] a private space with a private pool and spa,\u201d Guti\u00e9rrez said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that\u00a0AHCJ data shows that 80% of people who stay at the organization\u2019s 40 properties are Mexicans and the other 20% are foreign tourists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latter mostly stay at properties in or around the better-known tourist destinations of Tequila and Puerto Vallarta, Guti\u00e9rrez explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People who choose to stay at the haciendas and manors in Jalisco can expect a high-quality and memorable experience, the AHCJ chief added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c. . .
